​AUTHORS SHOWCASE Meet the Authors! Premier African-American literary and scholarly talent from all over the country converge at ALC to greet conference attendees. Prominent authors share the spotlight with a diverse range of novelists, scholars, poets and self-published authors.





Town of Herndon Holiday Arts and Crafts Show (December 2, 2018)



Over 90 artisans and craftspeople will exhibit and sell their work at this annual arts and crafts show sponsored by the Town of Herndon Department of Parks and Recreation. A variety of handcrafted items and fine art will be on sale including wreaths, jewelry, Christmas ornaments, decorations, original artwork, photography, stained glass, and more.





Annual Luncheon Featured Authors Event, Saturday, (February 16, 2019)



Held at the Washington Renaissance Hotel, 999 Ninth Street, NW, Washington D.C.Prior to the annual black history luncheon, a Featured Authors event allows individuals to interact with authors from across the nation who have written on a variety of issues related to African Americans and other topics. A mixture of book types will also be represented, ranging from children’s books to scholarly works. The Featured Authors book signing is FREE and open to the public

Soiree In The Cities Girl’s Night Out (June 15, 2019)




Soiree In The Cities Girl’s Night Out is in its fifth year and is one of the largest consumer events for women. This event brings together over 1200 women per night to shop, sample and score a fabulous swag bag. Women from all over can meet young emerging designers, sample sponsor products and activities and bond with their girlfriends at Saint Yves in Washington, D.C.

2019 GOD'S GLAMoROUS GIRLS CONFERENCE
(August 27 - 29, 2019)



God’s Glamorous Girls (GGG) is a heart-stirring, three-day women’s experience presented by Dee’s House of Hope a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization providing transitional housing, counseling and support services to victims of domestic violence in Maryland’s south county and surrounding areas of the District of Columbia. The conference is hosted and founded by Dr. DeeDee Freeman, wife of Dr. Michael Freeman, Pastor, and Founder of Spirit of Faith Christian Center in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. The God’s Glamorous Girls conference series impacts the lives of women across the globe through powerful speakers and phenomenal entertainment. Past GGG featured speakers include Dr. Michael Freeman, Bishop T.D. Jakes, Christine Caine and Taffi Dollar. GGG attracts over 5,000 women from across the nation.





2019 Circle of Sisters
(September 7, 2019)



Circle of Sisters (COS) is the largest expo for Black Women in New York City. Produced and hosted by WBLS-FM, WLIB–AM, and Emmis Communications, COS offers a variety of empowering panel discussions, informative seminars, and entertaining performances, including a Gospel Explosion concert. More than 200 vendors and small businesses will also be onsite selling unique items and services all day. This year the event takes place on Saturday, September 7th, from 10am-10pm at the Jacob Javits Center in Manhattan.

2019 2ND STREET FESTIVAL - RICHMOND, VA
(October 5-6, 2019)



The 2nd Street Festival returns in 2019 for its 31st anniversary, celebrating the rich culture of the historic Jackson Ward neighborhood. As always, this FREE event takes place the first full weekend in October. Nearly 30,000 people visit historic Jackson Ward to reminisce about the days when 2nd Street was the heart and soul of Richmond's African-American community and was known as “the Harlem of the South.” ​ The 2nd Street Festival features four stages of live musical entertainment along with a Kidz Zone, popular food vendors, a marketplace and Artists Row to shop, the Richmond Metropolitan Antique Car Club, and walking tours given by Historic Jackson Ward Association.





2019 BALTIMORE BOOK FESTIVAL & LIGHT CITY - Baltimore, MD

The city’s annual Light City and Baltimore Book festivals, which have traditionally taken place in April and September, respectively, will be combined for one free 10-day celebration, under the theme “Brilliant Baltimore.”

The 94th Annual Black History Luncheon and Featured Author’s Event will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at the Washington Renaissance Hotel, 999 9th St. NW, Washington, DC.





CIAA TOURNAMENT FAN FEST, CHARLOTTE, NC - (FEBRUARY 28-29, 2020)



Held on Friday and Saturday of CIAA Tournament week in the Charlotte Convention Center, this two-day event is free and open to the public. It features interactive sponsor activities, concert, Vendor Village and other family-friendly entertainment events. The final morning of Fan Fest features Lowe’s Super Saturday which includes a cheer-leading competition, Miss CIAA Pageant, a DJ battles and much more. Over 18,000 fans attended the 2019 Fan Fest.
